A good Georgia Straight article, written by Sarah Rowland, on how some of us singletons may have an easier time, in terms of affordability, as first time buyers in the Vancouver market... that's not to say you could score a good deal in Kits but buying a decent condo in a good area where you have value for money (and learn how to stretch a dollar, at least for me).
I recently bought my condo in Commercial Drive (and I'll love it once I'm out of boxes and the place is furnished), where the condo prices are reasonable (compared to say, Kits) and there seems to be a really good community of people. Besides, since I'm originally from New York, I absolutely need to be within a short walk to convenience and infrastructure. And, I guess that's another reason why I wouldn't want to live in Kits anyway, I'm not particularly outdoorsy. I don't swim, hike, go for long walks on the beach... I can run for the subway, yell for a cab, and spot roaches and mice from a mile away...
